For more than a decade, I have worked in the family law area with a particular focus on assisting clients to reach practical and fair outcomes through mediation. I understand the mental stress, perils and pitfalls of long-term litigation, therefore, I am an enthusiastic advocate for resolutions achieved through cooperative negotiation and agreement. Mediation is time and cost-effective, and significantly reduces the stress and emotional impact of a protracted and acrimonious family dispute conducted through our adversarial court system.
My experience encompasses all aspects of family law, as well as specialist niche areas, e.g. governmental agencies, handling allegations of child violence, offshore property assets. Moreover, property settlements involving a party/trustee in bankruptcy. Many of these matters required the use of a national mediator.
I am successful because I have extensive on the ground experience. I’m a nationally qualified mediator, an Accredited Specialist in family law (QLS), and admitted to practice in both the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia.
My court experience is extensive and includes appearing in the Family Court of Australia, Federal Circuit Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia, Supreme Court of Queensland, District Court of Queensland, Magistrates Court of Queensland, Children’s Court of Queensland, and the Social Security Appeals Tribunal (now the Administrative Appeals Tribunal).
I also work with some of Australia’s leading barristers to ensure that every client’s case is presented to the Court in a well-considered and well-prepared manner.
